The Founding Story of STRYI

The story of STRYI began with a young couple who inherited the craft of making wood carving tools from their relatives. They embraced traditional techniques of working with metal and wood, which had been passed down through generations. In 2009, the couple founded the brand by opening a small workshop where each tool was handcrafted with attention to quality and detail. Their goal was to create tools that combine tradition with modern innovations, ensuring long-lasting use in carving without the need for frequent sharpening, suitable for both professionals and beginners.

For 15 years, we have taken into account feedback from carvers, adapting the tools to their needs. As a result, the chisels have become more comfortable and efficient, making the work easier for artisans while improving carving precision. Over this period, STRYI craftsmen have developed unique tool lines that have become popular among carvers worldwide.

Among them is the Large bent gouge line, specifically designed for carving objects of varying depths, ensuring precision in details. They also developed a line of Sculpture chisels, known for their high maneuverability, especially when working on large sculptures, setting them apart from many counterparts. Additionally, the AY short chisel line, designed for three-dimensional geometric carving, stands out. This technique is so simple and effective that even children as young as 10 can master it, making this set unique in its kind.

The company's name comes from the city of Stryi in western Ukraine, known for its craftsmanship and cultural heritage.

The Vision of STRYI

STRYI's vision is based on the belief that only high-quality tools can fully unlock and reveal a wood carver's talent. We see each tool not just as a functional item but as a key to unlocking the creative potential of every artisan. After all, the creation of high-quality products is only possible with well-designed tools and their sharpness.

STRYI actively promotes wood carving among younger generations, introducing this hobby from a fresh perspective. Through organizing educational programs and courses tailored to different age groups, STRYI helps young people unlock their creative potential.

A key contribution comes from its collaboration with Adolf Yurieiev, the creator of safe short chisels, ideal for children. STRYI also supplies tools to schools, rehabilitation centers, and educational institutions, fostering creativity and fine motor skills development across diverse audiences.

In this way, the company not only spreads the culture of wood carving but also makes it accessible, safe, and beneficial for education and rehabilitation.
